Public advisory: Boaters urged to use caution near Maurice Creek spawning shoal

As part of Site C regulatory requirements, work is underway to build a spawning shoal for rainbow trout and mountain whitefish near Peace Canyon Dam, known locally as the “Fingers.” Construction will occur from June to September 2022.

Access to the south bank shoreline is limited near the work area. Boaters should use caution while near this stretch of the Peace River. Please observe and adhere to safety signage.

About the work

  • Gravel placed in the Peace River (near the “Fingers”) will create a spawning shoal for fish.
  • Localized industrial traffic, and some noise
  • Limited shoreline access on the south bank of the Peace River.
  • Ongoing monitoring.
