BC Hydro's Generating Opportunities (GO) Fund supports affordable housing and addiction recovery in Peace Region

FORT ST. JOHN: BC Hydro is providing $37,500 to four Peace Region non-profits as part of the Generate Opportunities Fund, in its second intake of the year. To date, the program has supported 87 projects, to a total of $766,151 during the construction of Site C.

BC Hydro is contributing a further $100,000 this year to bring the total value of the GO Fund to $900,000.

Recipients include:

  • Abbeyfield Houses of Fort St. John: $10,000 to build a gazebo for an affordable housing facility for seniors, so residents can enjoy the outdoors in an accessible and sheltered way.
  • Hudson’s Hope Healthcare and Housing Society: $10,000 to repair the concrete stairs and ramp at a seniors housing facility. This will improve safety for its residents, some of whom have mobility challenges.
  • Rising Above Ministries FSJ: $10,000 to contribute to classes helping people struggling with addiction to learn life skills, employment skills, emotional and mental wellbeing, and more.
  • Tansi Friendship Centre Society: $7,500 to purchase food and supplies for three after-school programs for youths.

The GO Fund is administered by the Northern Development Initiative Trust. Applications for funding are accepted and distributed quarterly. For more information, including past recipients and application details, please visit sitecproject.com/gofund.
