First grants totalling more than $200,000 awarded to Peace Region agricultural projects; 2020 application intake now open

Northern Development Initiative Trust today announced that seven Peace Region agricultural projects will receive $209,086 in funding through the BC Hydro Peace Agricultural Compensation Fund.

BC Hydro completes concrete placement milestone ahead of schedule

BC Hydro reached a major milestone on the Site C project with the completion of roller-compacted concrete placements in the upper spillway buttress on October 30, 2019. This achievement occurred seven months ahead of schedule.

Highway 29 Halfway River Bridge contract awarded

The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure has awarded the contract to construct a two-lane realignment of a segment of Highway 29 and replace the Halfway River Bridge northwest of Fort St. John.

BC Hydro helps the Tansi Friendship Centre Society provide school meals and supplies

BC Hydro will begin work on the Highway 29 realignment east of Cache Creek. We will be preparing the site for the construction of a large embankment at the eastern end of the segment.

In late August, BC Hydro started building chain-up areas for vehicles entering and leaving the Site C project.

Public advisory: Construction begins on temporary bridge to island in Peace River

In early September, construction is starting on a temporary bridge to an island in the Peace River near Halfway River, as part of clearing activities for the Site C project. The bridge allows workers to remove vegetation from the island and prepare for the creation of the new reservoir.
