Public advisory: Hauling from Portage Mountain Quarry through Hudson's Hope

Starting next week, trucks will haul riprap (large rocks and boulders) from Portage Mountain Quarry, through the town of Hudson’s Hope, to construction sites along Highway 29.

What to expect
  • There will be an average of one truck every 10 minutes, from 7 am – 7 pm.
  • Hauling will take place 7 days a week.
  • There may be increased dust and noise.
  • Drivers are urged to use caution and obey signage and traffic personnel. There may be minor delays.

BC Hydro is working with the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure on Highway 29 construction. This work is being done to prepare for filling the Site C reservoir, which will widen the Peace River and cover parts of the existing highway. In total, we are building more than 30 km of highway in six different segments on Highway 29.
